After 40 years of mystery, BC Coroners have solved the case of an unidentified body found in 1975.
BC Coroners says that they've done “exhaustive port-mortem investigation” on the case with help from three different missing persons units, finally determining that the body is that of Roy Lynn Howe. In July 1975, Howe's body was recovered in Vancouver and taken to Saint Paul's Hospital for more forensic exams. Despite extensive efforts by both police and coroners, Howe's body stayed unidentified.
Howe was 26 when he disappeared, and he was eventually reported missing in 2008 to RCMP.
BC Coroners says that modern forensic analysis helped to make this identification possible, combined with an enhanced identification model made by the Identification and Disaster Response Unit of BC Coroners Service.
Howe's family has been notified of the death and request their privacy at this time.
