The B.C. government has just opened up online applications for tree fruit growers to participate in the replant program.
The program, announced by Premier Christy Clark in November, is investing $8.4 million into a seven-year tree fruit replant program. All the way to the 2021 season, growers can apply for funding to replant their orchards, replacing low-demand fruit with high-demand and high-quality fruit varieties such as Ambrosia apples and late-season cherries.

B.C. is a major province for tree fruits, producing Canada's second largest tree fruit crop in 2013. This crop included more than 103,000 tonnes of sweet cherries, peaches, apples, pears, nectarines, and apricots. All of this fruit made up about one-fourth of the total Canadian production.
Tree fruit growers can get an application package online on the provincial government's website.
