At approximately 4:15 a.m., Surrey RCMP received several calls reporting that a vehicle had gone off the roadway. After drifting off the road, the vehicle rolled down the embankment and landed on the C.N. Rail right of way, next to the train tracks.

A 53 year old Surrey man was trapped under the vehicle, and two other occupants had fled from the scene. Members of the Surrey RCMP General duty, along with the Surrey Detachment Traffic Services attended to the scene.

The pickup truck had two large Tidy tanks in the back, containing Diesel fuel. They were ejected during the accident and spilled fuel in the area. Luckily, the fuel tanks and the pickup truck have been recovered.

The trapped male was freed from under the pickup truck and transported to hospital via ambulance in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

While Surrey RCMP members were on scene, the two other occupants were driven to the hospital. The driver, a 43 year old Surrey resident, suffered multiple injuries but was in stable condition. He will be questioned to determine exactly what happened.

Surrey RCMP are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision to call RCMP at 604-599-0502.
