Body Recovered from Lake Near Chase

RCMP in Chase has located the body of a man who went missing while on Adams Lake in the Shuswap.

The body of a 57-year-old man, who fell into the lake at around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, was located by search and rescue on Sunday morning. The man had been with his 22-year-old nephew when the boat they were in capsized.

The younger man managed to swim about 100 metres to shore, but the older man did not make it. According to RCMP, neither of the men was wearing floatation devices.

Divers worked to locate the Clearwater man, who was presumed to have drowned. The man’s identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
