A Vancouver thief apparently didn’t learn his lessen the first time, as he was arrested twice in two days for allegedly stealing four bikes.

Shortly after 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 24th, police received a call of a suspicious man with two bikes on West Broadway near Alma Street. After attending the scene, Vancouver police found the man attempting to sell stolen bikes to citizens.

A search of the area resulted in officers locating 32-year-old Devon Reid L’Heureux in possession of the two bikes, and a check of serial numbers found that one of them had been reported stolen in Delta back in 2012. Both bikes were seized and given back to their owners.

Following the L’Heureux’s interaction with police, the man allegedly broke into a home near Broadway and Trutch Street where he stole a bike and helmet. Officers then took him into custody without incident at Trutch Street near West 4th Avenue. He was taken to jail and charged with breaking and entering.

At about 4:30 p.m. on May 25th, the accused was released from jail. Shortly after his release, L’Heureux hoped on a bus to the Kitsilano area of Vancouver and was seen lurking around multiple yards before allegedly entering the yard of a home near Blenheim Street and West 4th Avenue. He then stole a mountain bike and took off.

When approached by police, the accused attempted to flee but he didn’t get far before being apprehended by the police K9 dog. He was arrested only four hours after leaving jail. Additional charges have been recommended.
