As an incentive to promote the adoption of love-able adult cats in British Columbia, the SPCA is offering half-price adoptions at every location throughout the province.

“Adult cats need homes just as much as cute little kittens need homes, and kittens are always adopted quickly,” said BC SPCA director of regional operations Jane Talbot. “Adult felines have a lot of love to give, and we’re hoping this promotion will encourage anyone who has been considering adoption to take the next step.”

The half-price promotion will run from Friday June 26th through until Sunday June 28th. The usual adoption criteria will apply, but branches will be offering 50 per cent off the usual fees for adult cats. The SPCA’s goal is to find loving homes for as many adult felines as possible during the three-day event.

“There are so many cats in our shelters right now, and the more adult cats who are adopted, the more space we’ll have to help the many more who need our help,” said Talbot. “There are many benefits to adopting an older pet – they’re more settled, they’re housetrained, their personalities are fully developed and you know how big they’ll get. The best reason to adopt an adult, however, is because they deserve it.”

The BC SPCA rescues more than 15,000 cats and kittens across the province annually. A major focus of the BC SPCA is to address the cat overpopulation crisis in B.C., seeing as there are tens of thousands of homeless cats in the province.
