Wildfire Near Rock Creek Now 85 Per Cent Contained

The Westbridge wildfire is still causing an evacuation alert, but firefighters now have the blaze 85 per cent contained.

Firefighters doubled their containment from Tuesday, when the blaze was only 40 per cent contained. The wildfire near Rock Creek and Highway 33 remains 26 hectares in size, and 20 firefighters are on site on Wednesday.

The evacuation alert remains in effect for residents in the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary. Three homes in the area are under the alert, or 10 people.

Campfire bans in both the Southeast Fire Centre and the Kamloops Fire Centre go into effect on Friday, July 3rd.
