The Grimm’s Fine Foods brand Home Style Roast Beef has been recalled in several provinces because of possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) gave the recall warning late on Friday for the roast beef, which was distributed in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Yukon, and possibly nationally.

The affected product has the code G11630 BB 24 JUL 2015. However, the CFIA warns that the product could have been served by clerks from deli counters with or without a label or coding. If you’re unsure if you’ve purchased the affected product, you should contact your retailer.

Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to where you bought them. Food that’s been contaminated with Listeria may not look or smell spoiled, but it can still make you sick. Symptoms caused by Listeria can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache, and neck stiffness.

Pregnant women, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems are more at risk. Infected pregnant woman may experience just mild, flu-like symptoms, but Listeria infection can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn, or even stillbirth. In severe cases, people may die.

CFIA says that there have been no reports of illness associated with the consumption of this product.
