Accident Closes Coquihalla Highway Near Kamloops

One lane of the highway has been reopened northbound to traffic, but motorists can expect delays. Both lanes are open southbound.

The Coquihalla Highway is closed due to a motor vehicle incident late Sunday morning.

Kamloops RCMP have confirmed that Highway 5 is closed in both directions seven kilometres south of the Inks Lake brake check after a vehicle slid down an embankment.

B.C. Ambulance is responding to the scene with four ground ambulances and one air ambulance. They are expecting to transport six patients for treatment, one of which is in critical condition.

There is no estimated time for the highway to reopen.
