Accident Closes Trans-Canada Highway Near Chase

Update:

B.C. Ambulance Service recevied a call at 4:11 p.m. and responded with six ground ambulances and one air ambulance for an accident involving a tour bus. 

Twenty patients have been transported to Royal Inland Hospital in non-life threatening condition, and three patients in serious condition have been transported.

Paramedics remain on the scene assessing the situation and more patients will be transported if necessary. 

There are approximately 60 people in total being assessed.

The Trans-Canada Highway is closed in both directions near Chase until further notice.

Drive BC reported the closure 11 kilometres west of Chase after a motor vehicle incident.

There are unconfirmed reports that the accident was between a tour bus and a car.

It is unknown if anyone has been injured.

There is no estimated time for the highway to reopen.

An assessment is currently in progress.
