The Fire Danger Rating has significantly increased across the B.C. Interior.

The current weather conditions have created an environment where extreme wildfire behaviour could occur and the Fire Danger Rating is high or extreme throughout the Kamloops Fire Centre.

High temperatures, low relative humidity, and the potential for strong winds and dry lightning have created the conditions for aggressive fire behaviour. Should a wildfire start in these conditions it will spread rapidly and will be challenging for fire suppression.

The BC Wildfire Service is urging the public and industry partners to exercise extreme caution with any activity that could create a spark and ignite a wildfire.

If you cause or see a wildfire, report it immediately, and if possible take action with available resources to extinguish it.

To report a wildfire, call 1-800-663-5555 or *5555 from a cellphone.

More information is available at the BC Wildfire service website.
