A new Ipsos Reid poll shows that the Liberals have a slight lead over the Conservatives out east, but in British Columbia it is a different story.
The federal election race is a tight one, according to the latest poll released by Iposo Reid as in Ontario, the Liberals have 38 per cent of the popular vote. This is followed by the Conservatives at 35 per cent, the NDP at 24 per cent, and the Green Party with just three per cent.
British Columbia remains in a three way race with the NDP leading the way with 34 per cent of the vote, followed by the Conservatives with 31 per cent, and the Liberals at 28 per cent. The Green Party are trailing with 7 per cent of the popular vote, but register the best showing nationally.
In Alberta, the Conservatives are well ahead of the Liberals with 51 per cent of the vote. In Saskatchewan and Manitoba the Tories lead the way with 39 per cent of people in favour of the party. The Liberals have the lead in Atlantic Canada at 46 per cent, well ahead of the Conservatives and NDP.
While 48 per cent of voters, overall, say they’re ‘absolutely certain’ of their vote choice on Election Day, Conservative voters (56 per cent) are most likely to say they’re absolutely certain of their choice, while Liberal (43 per cent) and NDP (43 per cent) voters are less likely to say so – suggesting there is still a chance for the opposition vote to shift back and forth between the Liberals and the NDP.
According to the data, if the election were held today, no party would win a majority of the seats and the House of Commons would be in a minority government position. The federal election will take place on October 19th.
