Child-care providers across British Columbia can now apply for provincial funding to help build additional space for more children in their communities.
On Monday, November 30th, 2015, the provincial government opened up their third phase of funding, which allows non-profit child-care providers to apply for up to $500,000, and private child-care providers to apply for up to $250,000.
The application process will be open from November 30th until February 26th, 2016, and is designed to help build new child-care spaces.
Priority will be placed on organizations that create extra space on school grounds; organizations that assist under-serviced areas in the province, and those organizations that are co-located with other family-support programs.
“These new spaces are part of government’s commitment, under the B.C. Early Years Strategy, to create a total of 13,000 licensed child-care spaces across the province by 2020,” said Marvin Hunt, on behalf of Minister of Children and Family Development Stephanie Cadieux.
