The University of British Columbia has another bullet point to add to its resume because it’s been named the second best university in the country.

The Academic Ranking of World Universities has ranked the best 19 universities in Canada and they've included the Canadian schools in the world ranking, as well.

This year, UBC has been ranked as the second best Canadian school and the 34th best school globally. The University of Toronto scored higher than UBC and has been named the top Canadian school and the 27th best globally.

That’s a fairly good score for UBC since just last year the school was named the 40th best school globally.

You may be wondering how the university changed its ranking by so many spots in just one year, we are too.

The Academic Ranking of World Universities said UBC scored top marks in sociology, economics, business and life.

However, it did how lower scores when it came to English, Medicine, Chemistry and mathematics.
