UPDATE (3:45pm): DriveBC said westbound lanes are fully open.

Highway 1 is closed in both directions near Bridal Falls because of a collision and it could be several hours before it reopens.

According to DriveBC, the highway is closed one kilometre east of Highway 9 because of the collision, but an eastbound detour is in effect. Traffic is being directed to Highway 9 and Highway 7 just outside of Hope.

The highway has been closed since just after 9 a.m. Monday morning and DriveBC hopes to reopen the road to traffic by 3 p.m.

Traffic is heavily backed up as a result of the collision. According to Emil Anderson Highway Maintenance, the cause of the delay is a semi-truck rollover. It is unclear if there were any cars involved or if anyone was seriously injured.
