The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are in Vancouver today, on Day 2 of their tour of the British Columbia.
The royal couple will kick off their day with a public event at Jack Poole Plaza, where a large crowd is expected to greet them.
From there, the pair will meet with members of Sheway, a First Nations’ Community Program for Women and Children.
Their Royal Highnesses will participate in a ceremonial First Nations Welcome Prayer, before participating in story time with mothers and children.
There, they will also learn traditional vest-making, and how to make bannock.
Following their visit to Sheway, Their Royal Highnesses will visit the Immigrant Services Society’s new welcome centre. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will join the couple on the tour.
There, the Duke and Dutchess will meet with TechStart graduates and youth, as well as unveil a plaque at the ISS playground to recognize the opening its and commemorate their visit.
They will also attend a reception at Telus Gardens to meet Canadian Youth who are helping to build Canada and making a difference in their communities.
At 3 p.m. the royal couple will visit the Kitsilano Coast Guard Station, where they will join a round table with representatives from the Coast Guard, ambulance, fire, and police services to discuss rescues and mental health issues in first responders’ communities.
From there, they will move outside to the station’s cycling path, meet Indigenous leaders, and view equipment used in search and rescue and environmental response, including a Coast Guard hovercraft.
The couple will make a stop in Kelowna on Sept. 27, when they will take in activities at UBCO and Mission Hill.
