An RCMP officer working in Surrey just over a month ago is scheduled to be in court Wednesday morning after being caught by vigilante group “creep catchers.”

In early September, the Facebook group Surrey caught Const. Dario Devic on video, allegedly meeting up with a 14-year-old girl (which a member of the group had posed as).

Devic was arrested on Sept. 7, removed from duty and charged.

He originally faced two charges, including one charge of breach of trust by a peace officer, which was dropped by the Crown on Tuesday.

Now, he solely faces a charge of communicating online with a child under 16 in an attempt to lure them for sex.

Originally, there was an issue with the video, when the "creep catcher" named the wrong officer, who they later apologized to.

Const. Devic’s next court appearance is scheduled for October 19 at Surrey Provincial Court.
