Multiple highways in the province are closed on Thursday thanks to a variety of driving conditions.

According to DriveBC, Highway 3 is closed in both directions, 30 kilometres west of Kootnay Pass, until 8 a.m. for avalanche control. A two and a half hour detour is in use.

A travel advisory is also in place due to freezing rain.

A crash near Fernie has reduced Highway 3 to a single lane for the time being.

Highway 97 will be closed in both directions over 40 km north of the junction with Highway 39 for highway control between 1 and 2 p.m.

In the Okanagan, highways are slushy and slippery. There is limited visibility due to dense fog on the Okanagan Connector.

There are also slippery section on Highway 97 in the city of Kelowna.
