If you’re talking about things that put a smile on people’s faces, animals and cupcakes have to be near the top of the list.

That’s why there should be plenty of smiles in the lead up to National Cupcake Day on February 27th, when you can help save animal lives by simply baking cupcakes and giving them away in exchange for donations to the BC SPCA.

National Cupcake Day is a nationwide event presented by the BC SPCA and other participating humane societies.

This day allows animal lovers to bake away in an effort to raise money for those humane societies.

“I’m excited to test out some new cupcake recipes and decorating techniques this year,” says National Cupcake Day spokesperson, Kristina Matistic. “What I love about this event is that it’s super easy to get involved and cupcakes are simple to make.”

“Plus, who can say no to a delicious cupcake, especially when it’s for such a great cause?”

It’s hard to argue with that logic and the numbers from the first four years of this event highlight that.

Since the campaign’s inception in 2013, Canadians have raised $1.85 million with the proceeds going towards participating SPCAs and humane societies across the country.

To get involved, register for free at www.nationalcupcakeday.com and you’ll receive your free cupcake host kit in the mail.
