BC Ferries appointed a new president and CEO on Friday morning.

Mark Collins will take over the role from the outgoing Mike Corrigan, who has been the company’s president since 2012.
“As a person who was born in Newfoundland, a ferry dependant island, I understand first-hand the importance of a reliable ferry service to people’s lives,” said Collins. “I’m fortunate to have such a solid foundation on which to start my new role as president and CEO.”
Corrigan’s last day will be March 31st, 2017, and Collins will step into the role the very next day, on April 1st.
“Mark Collins has demonstrated his ability to lead teams and work collaboratively with diverse groups, skills we believe to be vital for the CEO position,” said BC Ferries Board Chair, Donald Hayes.
Collins has 35 years of marine experience with 20 of them coming at a senior executive level.
He also holds a Master of Business Administration from UBC, a Diploma of Technical Engineering from Memorial University of Newfoundland and a Bachelor of Arts in Marine Geography from Saint Mary’s University.
“I congratulate Mark Collins on his appointment as president and CEO of BC Ferries,” commented Minister of Transportation, Todd Stone. “At the same time, I also thank outgoing president and CEO Mike Corrigan for his dedication and hard work.”
Collins is married with three children, and resides in North Saanich, B.C.
