A man was taken to hospital Thursday after a two-vehicle collision on the Trans-Canada Highway.

At noon, a black Nissan Titan pickup truck was heading east on the Trans-Canada Highway, just west of the access to the Mt. Revelstoke National Park.

The Nissan Titan collided head-on with a commercial tractor trailer unit.

The driver of the Nissan Titan was a male and was trapped inside his vehicle, requiring Revelstoke Fire Rescue Service (RFRS) to remove him.

He was taken to Queen Victoria Hospital.

Revelstoke RCMP, RFRS, BC Ambulance Service, EMCON, Ministry of Transportation and tow companies were all called to the scene.

The driver of the commercial tractor trailer unit has minor, non-life threatening injuries and was issued a Provincial Ticket for Fail to Keep Right. According to RCMP, the driver of the tractor trailer unit was between six and eight feet into the oncoming passing lane.

The section of the Trans-Canada Highway is currently closed while first responders are at work.

Re-opening of the road will be announced on Drive BC.
