1 person sent to hospital with serious injuries following collision on Hwy 1 Saturday

Emergency crews in southern BC had act quickly when dealing with a motor vehicle incident on Saturday. 

According to RCMP, at 3:59 am, a collision involving two vehicles occurred on Hwy 1 east of the Kensington off-ramp in Burnaby. The driver of a black Acura travelling eastbound collided with a blue Audi A5 when it had temporarily pulled over to the side of the road. 

The Acura then struck the Audi's female passenger who had exited the vehicle and was standing on the side of the road. 

Paramedics quickly transported the 26-year-old woman to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Acura stayed on the scene and cooperated with police. 

Now, officers are looking for witnesses to the crash to further the investigation.
