Health officials in British Columbia reported another 2,086 cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, although the number of active cases dropped by a similar amount of 30,058.
The number of COVID-positive people in BC hospitals also dropped since Tuesday, from 985 to 949, while critical care numbers fell from 144 to 136.
Unfortunately, there were 21 new COVID-19 deaths reported in BC over the past 24 hours, which brings the province’s pandemic death toll up to 2,575.
Fraser Health saw 10 of those deaths, while six were in Vancouver Coastal Health and five were in Island Health.
The Province is reporting five new healthcare facility outbreaks as well, but seven were declared over in the same timeframe, which leaves the total number of active outbreaks at 63.
BC has now administered 10,551,666 doses of all COVID-19 vaccines since December 2020.
As of today, 89.7% of eligible people five and older in BC have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 83.6% have received a second dose as well.
For those 12 and up, 92.6% have received their first dose, 89.9% have received their second dose and 42.2% have now been boosted as well.
Looking at eligible adults, more than 45% have now received three doses of vaccine, while 90.4% are double dosed and 93% have at least one dose in them.

- Not vaccinated: 410.5
- Partially vaccinated: 201.6
- Fully vaccinated: 233.9
Here’s a look at hospitalizations per 100,000 population after adjusting for age from Jan. 11-24:
- Not vaccinated: 85.2
- Partially vaccinated: 51.4
- Fully vaccinated: 20.0
