A quarter-million rapid antigen tests are being sent to child care providers across British Columbia.

The take-home tests will be delivered by the province to government-funded child care facilities through the mail.

The province explains that the rapid tests are an additional tool that can be used to reduce the transmission of COVID-19 in child care facilities.

More information about when the tests will arrive will be provided in the coming days.

The Ministry of Children and Family Development will be hosting a virtual information session tonight (Jan. 26) from 7 pm to 8:30 pm.

Dr. Bonnie Henry, provincial health officer, Dr. Reka Gustafson, deputy provincial health officer, Dr. Jason Wong, associate medical director with the BC CDC, will be present.

Dr. Mark Lysyshyn, deputy medical health officer for Vancouver Coastal Health and Nader Massoud, child care licensing officer for VCH will also be joining the meeting.
