Police in the greater Vancouver area are investigating after three different women were attacked during three separate incidents recently.

According to RCMP, between Sept. 27 and Oct. 10, officers responded to women who had been walking alone and grabbed from behind. These incidents all occurred in either Whalley or Newton.

The first incident occurred on the 27th at 5 pm in Bear Creek Park. On the same day, a second incident took place at 7:24 pm in the 1100 block of Millar Road.

On Oct. 10 at 11:57 pm, the final situation occurred on a pathway between 132 Street and Edinburgh Drive.

At this point, there is no evidence to suggest the incidents are linked. Police are concerned to have so many similar incidents happen at the same time.

Thankfully, no one was hurt following the attacks. Incidents like these can have lasting emotional impact.

"We want the public to be aware of these incidents, to maintain a healthy vigilance and report all suspicious activity,” said Cpl. Vanessa Munn. “We recognize these incidents can lead to a sense of unease within the community."

"We want to assure residents that in addition to our ongoing investigations we have stepped up patrols in the areas of these incidents.”

Police went on to say that residents should not alter their behaviour when someone else is doing something criminal. Limiting distractions, walking with others and being aware of surroundings are good ways to stay safe.

Anyone who witnesses an attack should call 9-1-1 immediately.
