Residents living on Vancouver Island were a little weary Friday night after feeling a small earthquake.

According to Earthquakes Canada, a 4.9 magnitude earthquake hit just off the coast of Port Alice. The quake hit at a latitude of 50.36 north and a longitude of 129.28 west at a depth of eight kilometres.

At this point, there are no reports of damage, and none are to be expected. No tsunami warning was put in place following the incident.

This wasn't the only quake to hit Canada on Friday as a 3.9 magnitude wave shook up the area 148 kilometres south-southwest of Fort Mcpherson, NT.
