The winner of a whopping $58 million Lotto 6/49 jackpot prize was presented his cheque this morning in Vancouver.

Hao Ping Chung from Richmond says he plans to travel and learn to play guitar after his major windfall.

He decided to buy a ticket when he saw the jackpot, and it’s a good thing he did! He became BC’s first Gold Ball Jackpot winner, and he won the largest lottery prize ever awarded from a ticket purchased on PlayNow.com in BC.

“I was at home when I found out I won. When I logged on to my PlayNow.com account I saw the balance. It didn’t feel real! I tried to withdraw the funds to see if it was actually there,” recalled Chung.

It’s safe to say that Chung was excited, and called his parents right away to share the news.

“They were surprised and asked if it was a scam!” he said.

Chung is taking some time to decide what’s next, but he plans to learn to play guitar and travel. “Some nice beaches, maybe,” he adds.

On how it feels to be a multimillionaire? “Unreal” is the word Chung used.
