Dr. Bonnie Henry, provincial health officer, announced 92 additional confirmed cases of COVID-19 today, including one more death.
One person in the Vancouver Coastal Health region passed away of coronavirus related complications.
There are now a total of 884 cases in BC. Of those cases, there are 81 in hospital and 52 in intensive care. On a positive note, 396 patients are now fully recovered.
Henry said that British Columbians must continue to be careful and follow instructions of health officials.
Yesterday, Henry detailed data modelling that shows BC’s infection rate is more similar to South Korea than to Italy.
Still, she urged that any outbreak or cluster of cases is going to “tip the scales for us.”
She shared that there are now 12 care centres in the province where residents and or staff members have tested positive for the virus.
Of the 12 centres, six are located in Fraser Health and six are located in Vancouver Coastal Health.
Henry said people have to remain “100% committed to flatten this curve for good.”
“We do appreciate everything that people are doing,” she added.
Health Minister Adrian Dix said that work continues to increase hospital capacity, and there are now 4,295 vacant beds across the province for the cases expected to appear over the next few weeks.
