BC RCMP officer charged with criminally harassing 2 people

A BC RCMP officer has been charged following a number of inappropriate incidents.   

The BC Prosecution Service announced today that charges were laid against Trail RCMP Cst. Steven Allan Murchie. The charges come in the form of breach of trust in connection with the duties of his office, criminal harassment, and forcible entry. 

According to the service, Murchie was involved in allegations of misconduct against two individuals between January of 2017 and May of 2020. 

Information charging Murchie with these criminal code offences was sworn in on July 3 in a Rossland Provincial Court. He is set to make his next appearance before a judge on September 17. 

Due to a publication ban, the names of Murchie's targets will not be released. 

At this time, no further information will be released.
