The major changes include replacing Rob Fleming with Jennifer Whiteside, the newly elected MLA in New Westminster, as British Columbia’s education minister.

Whiteside no doubt be at the centre of the debate as to whether schools should be closed under as COVID-19 cases surge in the province.

Other moves include Selina Robinson being appointed finance minister, taking over from Carole James who retired after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.

Adrian Dix will stay on as health minister, after helping guide BC's pandemic response from the beginning.

Mike Farnworth will remain public safety minister and solicitor general and George Heyman stays on as minister of the environment.

David Eby will remain as attorney general.

After winning October's provincial election, the NDP return to power with an unprecedented majority for the party, holding 57 of 87 seats in the legislature.

The new cabinet is also gender-balanced, with an equal number of men and women in cabinet positions.
