A BC motorist has been issued a large fine and had their vehicle impounded after being clocked going double over the speed limit.
On Thursday, Delta Police posted to Twitter about the incident calling the driver “insanely reckless” for speeding 166 km/hr in an 80 km/hr zone.
As a result, the vehicle was impounded for seven days and the driver hit with $483 ticket as well as three points against their insurance.

“This will definitely impact their Driver's Risk premium for insurance purposes,” concluded Delta police in their tweet.
Consequences for excessive speeding are substantively different from regular speeding tickets.
Those caught exceeding the speed limit by more than 40 km/ h are subject to receive a $368 ticket and the vehicle will be impounded for seven days.
If the police say you were driving at a speed of 60+ km/h in excess of the speed limit, the fine goes up to $483.
