BC reports 267 new cases of COVID-19 over the weekend

British Columbia is reporting 267 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total active case count to 695.

Over the three day period, 94 cases were identified from July 23-24, from July 24-25 there were 79 cases, and from July 25-26 a total of 94 cases were reported. 

Of the newly identified cases, 155 are from Interior Health, 48 from Fraser Health, 41 in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 18 from Island Health, and five coming from Northern Health. 

No new cases were reported from people who reside outside of Canada. 

There are currently 43 people in hospital dealing with COVID-19, 17 of whom are in intensive care. 

In the past 72 hours, only one new COVID-19 related death has been reported from the Northern Health region. 

There are three active outbreaks in the province, one in acute care at Laurel Place at the Surrey Memorial Hospital, and two in long-term care, at the Holyrood Manor and the Nelson Jubilee Manor. 

BC has administered 6,584,264 doses of the Pfizer, Moderna, and AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines since December of 2020. 

This means that 80.6% (3,736,651) of eligible people 12 and older in BC,have received their first dose of the vaccine, and 61.3% (2,840,194) have received their second shot. 

A total of 81.6% (3,529,236) of all eligible adults in BC have received their first dose, and 64.4% (2,783,587) have received their second dose.
