A man made a pretty significant mistake while allegedly robbing someone in East Vancouver on Monday.
He left his wallet at the scene, which led police right to his front door.
According to the Vancouver Police Department, it happened as a customer left a local business around Kingsway and Victoria Drive.
When he pulled out his phone to make a call, another man ran by and allegedly grabbed it from his hands.
“The victim chased after the man, who took cash out of the phone wallet and threw the phone on the ground,” explained a VPD release.
After quickly picking up his phone, he continued to pursue the suspect even after the thief tried to pepper-spray him.
“The robber then allegedly pulled out a handgun and pointed it directly at the victim, before turning and running off,” the release continued.

Unfortunately for the alleged thief, he failed to notice his wallet had fallen out of his pocket, which was later retrieved by police.
It led them directly to his home, where he was arrested without incident.
Charges of robbery with a firearm, assault with a weapon and breach of his conditions have been recommended.
