British Columbia is creeping close to that goal of a $15 minimum wage.
Today, the general minimum wage increased 5.4% to $14.60 per hour, which is an increase of $0.75 per hour.
The resident caretaker and live-in camp leader minimum wages also went up 5.4%.
For resident caretakers that manage nine to 60 units, it’s now $876.35 per month, while those who manage 61 or more units now have a minimum wage of $2,985.04 per month.
The liquor server minimum wage had a larger increase, jumping 9.8% from $12.70 per hour to $13.95 per hour.
Today’s increases were the third of four planned bumps to get the minimum wage to $15.
They happen on June 1 each year, starting back in 2018.
