It was another day under 200 COVID-19 cases for British Columbia, with health officials reporting 180 new cases to wrap up the work week.

Well over half of those cases, 107, came in the Fraser Health region, while Interior Health had the second-highest daily total with 39 new cases.

Vancouver Coastal Health, Island Health and Northern Health all reported 13 or less new cases over the past 24 hours.

BC currently has 1,880 active cases of COVID-19 throughout the province, along with 162 people in hospital and 45 in critical care.

Unfortunately, there was one new outbreak reported today in Northern Health and one additional death, which brings BC’s pandemic death toll to 1,730.

An exciting milestone was hit on the vaccination front over the past 24 hours, as BC has now vaccinated more than 75% of its adult population with at least one dose.

The number for people aged 12 and up is not far behind at 73.1%.

In total, there have been 3,893,581 doses of all three COVID-19 vaccines administered in BC and 497,932 of those are second doses.

"As long as we increase our contacts in a slow and measured way, register and get fully vaccinated, and continue to use our layers of protection, we can confidently move forward with BC's restart plan,” said today’s joint statement from Dr. Bonnie Henry and Adrian Dix.

"What we have seen is that getting fully immunized with your first and second doses of COVID-19 vaccine is making the difference, helping to dramatically slow the spread in our communities.”

Dr. Henry and Dix will have a live COVID-19 briefing on Monday and they’re expected to confirm that stage two of the restart plan will start on time on Tuesday.
