Two people were arrested following an incident in the Lower Mainland that saw two women forcibly confined in a U-Haul van earlier this week.

The Delta Police Department was dispatched to the area of Hwy 17 and Ladner Trunk Road shortly before noon on Wednesday for reports of a distraught person.

Upon arrival, they found a 21-year-old woman that said she had been assaulted, robbed of her money and forcibly confined in a U-Haul van.

While she had managed to escape, officers learned that another woman had been forcibly confined in the van.

They also learned that the suspects and victims in this incident all knew each other.

“The DPD took immediate action to locate the other remaining victim who was in the U-Haul van and allegedly being forcibly confined by a male and female suspect,” noted a release.

Delta police notified surrounding jurisdictions and the van was located in the Aldergrove area by the Langley RCMP.

The two suspects were arrested and the second victim was located unharmed.

An investigation into this incident is ongoing but a report has been submitted to Crown Counsel that recommends several charges, including forcible confinement and assault.

The suspects remain in custody as they await their first court appearance. Their identities will not be released until charges are approved.
