A collision between a truck and a train in Delta has resulted in the death of a Vancouver man.
Delta Police were called to the scene of the collision at the 4600 block of 72nd Street, an area known as the Churchill Railway Crossing, at around 3:20 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
Police described the crash scene as “complex,” noting that the truck had been pushed a significant way down the tracks by the train.

Cris Leykauf, spokesperson for Delta Police, said that the man driving the truck, who was in his 40s, was found dead at the scene of the crash.
The man’s family was notified of his passing on Sunday morning by Delta Police.
Police were on scene for more around 12 hours conducting the initial investigation, led by Traffic Services with assistance from the Forensics Investigative Services Section, leaving the area at 3:45 a.m. Sunday morning.
Drivers should continue to avoid the 4600 block of 72nd St tonight as police expect to remain at the scene for a minimum of several hours. Police don't anticipate releasing any further information tonight regarding the crash between the truck and the train.

Delta Fire Department, CN Rail, and BC Hydro were also at the scene.
According to CN Rail, the Churchill Railway Crossing is equipped with active warning devices, which were functioning properly at the time of the incident.
Police say that they have found no clear preliminary indications as to what led to the collision. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
