Min Tong Zheng doesn’t have to worry about her mortgage anymore.

Instead, travelling is in the Burnaby woman’s future after a $500,000 win in the Oct. 26 Lotto Max draw.

Zheng matched all seven numbers to win the $1 million Maxmillion prize, which she’ll share with another winner from Ontario.

“I was at home alone when I matched the first two numbers, I quickly looked at the city and it said ‘Burnaby’ which got me very excited,” she said. “I continued matching the rest of the five numbers and it matched mine!”

She’s been buying lottery tickets since moving to Canada in 2003 and wanted to tell her husband about her big win right away, but he was in China at the time.

“The day he came back I told him and he scanned the ticket on his phone before he actually believed me,” she explained. “We were all very happy.”

Zheng is a self-described optimist and it seems to have paid off for her with this life-changing win.

She enjoys singing and photography during her free time and she’ll have the chance to do both a little more, since she plans on working a little less now.
