Two pretzel products have been recalled in British Columbia over concerns they could be contaminated with salmonella.
Western Family’s yogurt-covered pretzels and milk-chocolate-covered pretzels are affected by the recall, which was announced by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) this morning.
The agency warned people against eating, serving, selling or distributing the products.
Anyone that thinks they’ve become sick from eating the pretzels should contact their healthcare provider, CFIA said.

“Food contaminated with salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick,” the agency explained. “Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections.
“Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Long-term complications may include severe arthritis.”
CFIA added that there have so far been no reports of illnesses connected to the pretzels.
It will now open up an investigation which, it warns, could lead to more products being recalled.
There are currently two salmonella outbreaks being tracked by the Public Health Agency of Canada.
One is linked to snakes and rodents, while the other is connected to geckos.
