COVID-19 claims the lives of another 11 people in BC

British Columbia is reporting 768 new cases of COVID-19 in just 24 hours, bringing the total number of active cases in the province to 6,031. 

From the new/active cases this is where they are coming from in each region:


Of the active cases there are currently 298 people in hospital with 135 of those individuals in intensive care.

In the past 24 hours there have been 11 new COVID-19 deaths, which brings the pandemic death toll to 1,888. 

Of the new death; five were reported in Interior Health, four in Vancouver Coastal Health, and two in Fraser Health. 


There have been no new COVID-19 outbreaks in health care facilities in the province. The outbreaks at Menno Home in Fraser Health, Opal by Element in Vancouver Coastal Health, and Sunset Lodge in Island Health have been declared over.

After factoring for age, people not vaccinated are 35.1 times more likely to be hospitalized than those fully vaccinated.


The province has now administered 7,675,294 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine since December. 

From the eligible people 12 and older in BC, 86.5% (4,008,076) have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 78.9% (3,659,495) have received their second dose. 

Of the eligible adults in BC, 87.0% (3,764,087) have received their first dose and 79.8% (3,452,697) have received their second dose.
