Classes cancelled at private BC school after double stabbing

A private school in Delta is closed today after a stabbing incident.

An off-duty police officer and a woman were stabbed in front of Immaculate Conception elementary school on Wednesday.

The male officer was at the school shortly after 3 p.m. and witnessed an assault between a man and a woman.

When he tried to intervene, both he and the woman were stabbed, says Delta Police spokeswoman Cris Leykauf.

Both victims were taken to hospital and their conditions are considered to be serious.

Meanwhile, the suspect was taken into custody.

The school’s principal says counselling will be made available for students on Friday.
