The Kamloops Fire Centre's latest update is reporting that Saturday's fire at the North end of Garnet Lake, between Peachland and Summerland was likely caused by a person.
The estimated size of the wildfire is .53 hectares. The stage of control has been listed as 'out of control.'
KelownaNow continues to put in calls to the Kamloops Fire Centre but has been unable to reach anyone for any further updates.
So far this year, there have been 106 wildfires in B.C. that are larger than .01 hectares.
Currently in B.C., two fires are listed as wildfires of note, meaning they are highly visible and may pose a potential threat to public safety.
There is a fire within the Cariboo Fire Centre region, 40 kilometres southwest of Lac La Hache. It started on June 23rd and is roughly 36 hectares in size. Crews are currently working to reinforce control lines with heavy equipment.
The cause is still under investigation.
There is a fire within the Northwest Fire Centre region, on the south side of Nadina River.
The fire is located three kilometres south of Owen Lake and about 40 kilometres south of Houston, B.C.
The fire started on June 23rd and is believed to be about 75 hectares in size.
It's now classified as "being held" and crews assume that the fire is likely not to spread beyond existing or predetermined boundaries based on current and forecasted conditions. The cause is currently under investigation.

Currently for the Kamloops region, which includes the Okanagan, open fires are restricted, campfires and forest use are permitted (as of June 25th).
