Most British Columbians will be getting an extra hour of rest this weekend.

Daylight saving time comes to an end for the majority of the province on Sunday, Nov. 1 at 2 am.

That means the sun will rise a little earlier in the morning when you wake up for work or school on Monday, but it also means a little less daylight in the evenings for now.

Daylight saving time still exists in BC, for now, but this could be one of the final times we have to change our clocks in the fall or spring.

“On Oct. 31, 2019, government introduced legislative amendments that will allow for a future move to permanent daylight saving time,” says the Government of BC website

“The change will not take effect until BC can maintain alignment with Washington, Oregon, California and Yukon, which are all in the process of creating or enacting similar legislation.”

So, for now, remember to change the time on your watch, bedside clock, microwave, oven and inside your car, either on Saturday night or Sunday morning.

The time will automatically adjust on many devices, including your phone and computer.
