An iconic menu item has returned to A&W restaurants across the country.

Starting May 21, the fast food chain has brought back the Whistle Dog for a limited time.

This is only the second time the hot dog has been brought back since it was discontinued from the permanent menu in 2017.

The last time the Whistle Dog was brought back was in 2022  and most restaurants sold out within a couple of days.

So, be sure to swing by your local A&W to snag a delicious hot dog nested in a toasted bun, topped with relish, real cheddar cheese, and bacon.

“We were totally caught off guard by the demand for Whistle Dogs in 2022. We sold out so quickly we had to completely halt our marketing,” said Amanda Wang, director of marketing at A&W.

“We’ve prepared a ridiculous number of wieners this time around. There’s no way we’re running out again.”

A&W credits fans’ dedication for the temporary return of the Whistle Dog.

That's why the restaurant company released a short film titled “Bring Back The Whistle Dog,” which explains why Canadians love the nostalgic menu item so much and continue to call for it to be put back on the menu. Click here if you’d like to watch that short film.
