“A witness advised police the truck was going at a high rate of speed when it rode up onto the sidewalk and crashed into a street sign that read ‘Report Impaired Drivers,’” said the West Shore RCMP.

A traffic officer attended the scene however, the vehicle had already fled and was last seen heading toward Victoria.

However, the vehicle left behind debris including the impaired driving sign and the vehicle license plate.

Victoria Police were notified, and officers located the suspect vehicle.

“We want to thank both the witness and Victoria Police Department for acting so quickly. This was a dangerous impaired driver who was taken off the roadway just minutes after the report to police came in,” said Cpl. Nancy Saggar, West Shore RCMP Media Relations Officer.
