Police in Southern BC had to deal with a very erratic personality this month following a routine traffic stop in Trail.
According to RCMP, at 8:21 pm on Oct. 7, officers detained a 44-year-old Montrose man roadside for allegedly speeding on Rossland Avenue. The stop became very different when the driver began recording the officer and hurling insults his way.
Despite the incident, the officers remained professional and handed the man a $138 ticket for Speeding Against a Highway Sign.
Later, police found that the man had posted the video online. Officers contacted the man to remove the video, which he did.
"Roadside rage is nothing new to the officer, or any police officer; however, there are limits to incivility and poor behaviour. The man may have received a verbal warning if he had shown some degree of accountability for his actions but instead likely talked himself into the issuance of a violation ticket."
