Today, Environment Canada issued another heat warning for most of the province which is predicted to start Wednesday and last until Saturday.

“Health authorities and BC Emergency Health Services are preparing to assist people in need during the heatwave," affirmed Adrian Dix, minister for health

Environment Canada notes that the hotter weather will provide little relief at night as we see elevated overnight temperatures which can increase the risk of heat-related illnesses.

“It is important to be aware of and follow the health guidelines provided to keep your body cool while temperatures outside rise,” said Dr. Bonnie Henry, provincial health officer.

Dr. Henry also recommends that people limit physical activity outdoors, find cool places and to stay hydrated while keeping a close eye on infants, young children and older adults.

During heat alerts, health-authority declarations can trigger responses in regions affected by the increased temperatures.

These responses can include opening cooling centres and introducing focused action to support those who are vulnerable to the heat.
