The city of Victoria may be relatively warm, sitting nicely at just below zero according to Environment Canada, but photos may convince one that they are entering a new ice age.

The west coast city is experiencing a winter barrage with a hefty amount of snow adding a layer of dense powder to the city's aesthetics.

The snow is so terrible, it has caused the hashtag #snowmaggedon to begin circulating on social media, and has resulted in flight and food service issues at the Victoria International Airport.

Environment Canada is expecting "a long period of snowfall with total amounts of 15 to 25-centimetres" of snow.

If you were looking to take a snow day in Victoria, today's blizzarding weather would be your day!

Roads were so slippery that children didn't need to head to the slope, they just saddled their toboggans right out their front door!

Kids weren't the only ones putting in hours in the snow, dogs also took to the powder.

The snow provided people with whole new ways to enjoy the winter.

Be safe out there, Victoria!
