Police in southeast BC had to deal with an excessive speeder recently.

According to RCMP, on June 10 at 8:51 pm, officers were conducting routine patrol in Trail when they noticed a Honda Civic travelling at an excessive speed.

The vehicle was allegedly travelling at 102 km/h in a 50 km/h/ zone on Bailey Street. Officers detained a 24-year-old woman for the incident.

Police issued the woman a $368 ticket. Her vehicle was impounded for seven days as well.

"Please slow down and drive defensively. It takes only a second for a tragedy to occur at high speeds," said Sgt. Wicentowich.
