Police investigating following fatal crash in Kootenay National Park

Police in the Columbia Valley had to deal with a tragic incident this week. 

According to RCMP, on Wednesday morning, officers responded to a collision between a commercial truck and a car on Hwy 93 in Kootenay National Park. The crash occurred in the Numa Falls are of the park. 

Multiple emergency crews responded to the scene. Unfortunately, a 79-year-old man was declared dead at the scene. 

"One passenger was cared for by first responders at scene and taken to hospital. The injuries to the passenger are non-life-threatening."

What caused the incident is still under investigation. The BC Coroners Service is also investigating into what exactly killed the man.
